eBay duplicate listings policy: why did I get a duplicate listing warning?

A duplicate listing warning means eBay believes you are showing the same item more than once in a way that clutters search or gives the seller an unfair advantage. This can happen even if you changed a few cosmetic details like the title or photo order.

eBay looks at whether the listings are materially different, not whether they are technically separate drafts. The issue often comes from fixed-price duplicates, cross-category duplicates, same-item listings under multiple IDs, or inventory that should have been combined into a multi-quantity or variation listing.

Review the duplicate listings policy, compare your active listings side by side, and consolidate identical inventory into one compliant listing where possible. If the items are truly different, make those differences obvious in condition, specifics, title, pricing, and photos.

Do not keep relisting duplicates while assuming eBay will ignore them because other sellers appear to do the same thing. Repeated duplicate behavior can trigger hidden listings, removals, or restrictions.
