eBay prohibited or restricted items: how do I know if my product can be listed?
Before listing any sensitive inventory, sellers need to confirm not only that the product is legal, but that eBay allows it under its own marketplace rules. That is why prohibited and restricted items are a major troubleshooting area for sellers who work with branded, regulated, collectible, or risky inventory.
Products can be blocked because of law, shipping restrictions, safety rules, category-specific limits, or intellectual-property concerns. In many cases the issue is not the whole category, but a condition, format, ingredient, or claim in the listing that changes how eBay treats the item.
Check the prohibited-and-restricted-items policy before listing and again if a listing is removed. If the item is allowed only under certain conditions, make sure the listing meets those conditions fully before it goes live.
Do not rely on the fact that similar items are visible on eBay. Another listing being live does not prove your item is compliant, and relisting based on that assumption can create violations on your own account.
